Windows 10 Benefits for Businesses

A New Era of Windows

While some were just getting used to Windows 8, many were against the changes that it brought. Some found the layout and new UI difficult to work with, and file keeping could be a nightmare. With all of the voices of discontent, Microsoft responded. They skipped Windows 9 altogether, and went straight for the endgame. They introduced the world to the Windows 10 Operating System. It brought with it some familiar features, reintroduces some reinvented classics, and an all new well-integrated, productivity-boosting UI. According to Microsoft, the software will be continually updated automatically, saving you from having to invest in the latest version of Windows that Microsoft has to offer.

Layout & Design Interface

The first thing those using their computer for business reasons will notice, is the reintroduction of the classic Windows Start Menu. Windows 10 seamlessly integrates the Windows 8 Live Tiles, into an easily accessible start menu with the option to not use. The classic start menu, however, is now upgraded to meet time constraints when it comes to your work tasks.

Full Voice Control & Cortana Virtual Assistant

One of Windows 10’s new features, is the voice control function and the integrated virtual assistant, Cortana. These two work function hand-in-hand, while also leaving you the option of inputting text commands for a retro approach. The best part about it is, the choice remains yours. For tasks you need completed on the fly, your virtual assistant can multitask and can provide you with answers, updates, and information right when you need them.

Organic File Search

Organic file search, or natural file search, can help you to retrieve the file you need without any complications, hassles, or delays. File Explorer from past OS’s did not work the way they were expected to. They were limited in a great many ways. However, the new file search can be done through Cortana, just by asking “Show me a list of the files I have worked over the past week”, and Cortana will retrieve the list exactly as commanded. Cortana can also find files stored in the cloud on your One Drive, and can retrieve documents and files from a keyword. It’s really that easy.

Snapping, Task View, and the Introduction of Continuum

Snapping allows you to snap up to four Windows Apps together across your screen to make multitasking easier than ever. This functionality has been greatly improved upon since past iterations.

View allows you to view all open tabs at one time, and on one screen. Choosing between Windows is a breeze, especially if your device is touch screen. But that’s not all. Windows 10 gives you the option of creating more than one virtual desktop. This means, once the Task View is open, you can simply click to create another fresh virtual desktop, while the other is resting safely in the background. You can return to it at any time, or create more, just by entering Task View and choosing the desktop you need.

Continuum allows users the freedom of choice. In the past, Windows 8 deprived users of the choice of operating like a tablet, or a desktop. It was frustrating for many, to say the least. Windows 10 and its introduction of Continuum provides users with the option of switching back and forth from tablet to desktop mode. This can be extremely helpful in the workplace, especially where 2-1 hybrids are used.

Alerts, Notifications, & Settings

Alerts and Notifications are further simplified, taking a page from the Smartphone playbook. Windows 10 gathers all of your alerts and notifications and places them into one easy to manage – and access – tab. At the push of a button, all of your alerts and notifications lay in waiting.

Settings has also been reorganized. Previous operating systems had the Control Panel, which was often too complex for the layman. Windows 10 now has everything laid out, organized, and simplified.

Windows has successfully created an OS that can be used by just about anyone, making it ever useful when it comes to businesses that rely on speed, precision, and efficiency.
